Spada launch all-weather kids’ kit
Spada, the British designed motorcycle apparel brand, has released a range of children’s sizes for two of its most popular textile garments; the Lunar jacket and Duo Tech trousers.
The all-season ‘Junior’ range offers peace of mind to parents who want their children to enjoy motorcycling with riding kit designed specifically to fit them – keeping them warm, dry and secure. With a combined price of less than £100, both the Lunar Junior jacket and Duo Tech Junior trousers are only available in black with highly visible fluorescent detailing, in age sizes 4-6, 8-10 or 12-14.
The Lunar jacket (£54.95) is a 100% waterproof, all season jacket with CE armour fitted at the elbows and shoulder. Constructed with a polyester Kordura outer shell, the full-length jacket features a storm flap over the main zip and high and soft collar to help keep the elements out.
For when the weather gets warmer, the thermal lining can be removed and cool air passed through by opening four zipped vents on the front and with two rear exhaust vents of the jacket. The Spada Lunar jacket also features adjustment to create a ‘tailored’ fit and ensure maximum warmth by way of two Velcro straps on each arm and across the waist.
The Duo Tech trousers (£42.95) are 100% waterproof and breathable with the option of easily removing the quilted thermal lining.
Made from heavy duty Maxtex Nylon, the trouser boasts CE approved armour in the knees and a doubly layered seat for greater protection and wear resistance. Two outer zipped pockets are easily accessible and, using its long or short zips, the Duo Tech trousers can attach to a jacket easily for a more secure fit and prevent drafts.
Spada Marketing Manager, Mark Ingleby, explains the move: ‘Obviously we want everybody to enjoy the benefits and fun of motorcycling at Spada and seeing kids on the back of bikes with ill-fitting and inappropriate clothing flapping in the wind can be concerning as a parent. With these competitively priced Junior items, we’re confident that more riders will want to take their children out for a ride safe in the knowledge they’re properly equipped.’
In autumn 2010, the combination of the Lunar jacket and Duo Tech trousers were thoroughly tested by the Red Arrows pilots who, in just four days, successfully rode the entire length of the UK in all manner of conditions to raise money for a host of charities.

Josh Caygill. BSB Racer, Part-time Van Salesman…

Josh, in his new work suit...
We recently had a great day with Josh Caygill up at his family’s VW commercial Van Centre near leeds.
Josh, along with other BSB guys Jimmy Hill, AJ Venter and Stuart Easton will be wearing and no doubt fully testing our top line Predator Race suit for the 2011 season ahead.
Needless to say we’re excited about working with these guys to get the best feedback on the suits in order to continually improve the products that we make for bikers of all riding styles.
The day went well with Josh the perfect professional whilst being photographed – even with the abuse and all-round background tomfoolery from the guys in the garage – in some of our cracking new 2011 products, including the Tornado and Energy style jackets as well as the Target Parka. Good work fella!
We got some really good pics that we will be using in upcoming advertising and promotional stuff and thanks to Josh and his family for their hospitality, and of course the plentiful cups of strong tea and biscuits.

Burberry shows off its biker look.
High Fashion brand Burberry is getting behind the ‘biker look’ with its new Autumn fashion range.
Is this another case of bad cliche’ and ill-judged stereotyping by a fashion brand or a case of biking becoming yet more mainstream, after all the more biking is talked about, the better say we Spada fellas!…

SIGNS OF GETTING OLD #1: Dry fingers
Have you ever stood at the supermarket checkout and wondered why the elderly lick their fingers to open up plastic bags (they also do the same with newspapers and magazines)? Well that’s because their skin no longer retains the moisture and life needed to stick to the carrier bag and separate the plastic layers. I’m no dermatologist, but that’s my theory.

Fingers - Drained of moisture
I never used to have to lick my fingers in public to complete such menial tasks, but the other day, while shopping for some hot sausage rolls and a bottle of Irn bru, I simply couldn’t manage to open a carrier bag. I could feel the eyes of the shoppers in the ‘Basket Only’ queue burning into me as I fumbled for what seemed like an eternity with one of our great nation’s main causes of litter.
I knew that I could just quickly lick my fingers, simultaneously accepting the fact I’m now old, and get the bag open. But instead I rammed my purchases into an array of pockets and bundled the rest in my arms. Who says you can’t fight the effects of ageing!
